Description

The site in Carquefou (France) designs, manufactures, commissions and services control, regulation and protection systems for synchronous and asynchronous motors and synchronous generators, primarily for hydroelectric power stations. The work is done as a full cycle. It includes preliminary and detailed design studies, automation and programming, cabinet manufacture, factory tests, installation and commissioning on site, and training of the customer's personnel.

The offering covers voltage or reactive power regulation, unit and station control, control of synchronisation and connection to parallel operation, power output, measuring equipment, protection and monitoring, supervisory systems (SCADA) and frequency converters. For regulation there is the standardised GLOBALTA for simple compact applications, as well as SARN and HYDRALTA for hydro generators and complex industrial machines. Static excitation systems have redundant control and power sections and remote diagnostics. The range of synchronous machines is from 2 MW to 1300 MW.

The site is qualified by EDF as a supplier of type 2 and 3 unit regulators and by CNR as a supplier of unit regulators. According to the presentation, the EDF programme is planned for 14 years, running from 2014 to 2028, with a budget of more than 8 million euros. Lot 2 potentially covers 123 units of types 2 and 3, and lot 3 potentially 158. As of early 2024, 71 units had been equipped. Control systems at existing EDF stations are also upgraded under the framework contract MSH Renouveau.

Typical turnkey projects are complete renovations of hydro stations. At the Song Loulou hydro plant (AES SONEL, Cameroon; 8 units of 56 MVA), in 2012–2013 eight SARN-3C.2 digital regulators, eight unit control and protection cabinets, seven spillway control cabinets, a 225 kV substation monitoring cabinet, two cabinets for the station auxiliary systems, the station SCADA and a fibre-optic network were designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned. Work on site lasted 11 months.

At the Antelomita hydro plant (JIRAMA, Madagascar; 3 units of 1.7 MVA, 5 kV), in 2004–2005 SARN-3C regulators, control and protection cabinets, speed regulators, a station automation cabinet, HV feeder and busbar protection cabinets, synchronisation and connection cabinets, 5/35 kV step-up transformers with circuit breakers, fire protection and SCADA were delivered. Frequency converter upgrades have also been carried out, for example for the Île-de-France water company.
