Description

The HighTECH Line series was launched on the market in 1990. For the company it is the first line of digital multifunction relays, and it is still in production. Alongside relays with single protection functions, multifunction devices are produced, from basic overcurrent protection to high-end differential protection. Protection of electrical machines covers generators and motors.

The relays are installed in cabinet doors, in separate housings or in 19-inch racks, and an adapter is available for rear panel mounting. The 19″ rack design makes it possible to assemble several relays in one relay protection panel rack. Plug-in units with automatic short-circuiting of the current inputs allow a relay to be replaced while the bay is in operation, without opening the current circuits. LEDs and an alphanumeric display show text messages with measured values, settings and fault values, and operation is intuitive. The relays connect to the SCADA system through a standardised interface.

The functions include display of primary values, two setting groups, breaker failure protection, an output relay matrix, a real-time clock with synchronisation, a fault value recorder and a waveform recorder. Trip signals are routed to the outputs through the output relay matrix, so the secondary circuit scheme is easy to adapt to a specific cubicle. Processing of the measured samples is fully digital, the setting ranges are very wide, and the steps of values and time are fine. The settings are protected by a user-defined password. The software and hardware are continuously self-monitored. Communication runs over the Modbus RTU protocol through RS485 or RS232, and DC and AC auxiliary supply is accepted in a wide range. High-precision components with a load margin ensure accuracy and a long service life.

HighTECH Line relays are set with the Smart view program. The range is used in the modernisation and servicing of existing relay protection panels with 19″ rack designs, and for protection of generators, motors and transformers at industrial sites and power plants. Specific relay types are not listed on the range page and are clarified from the manufacturer's documentation for the task of the site. For new sites the company also offers the HighPROTEC range of multifunction terminals.

Questions and answers

Can a HighTECH Line relay be replaced without switching off the bay?

Yes, plug-in units have automatic short-circuiting of the current inputs, so relays are replaced while the bay is in operation.

Which communication interfaces do HighTECH Line relays have?

Serial communication through RS485 or RS232 over the Modbus RTU protocol. Setting is done with the Smart view program.

How are HighTECH Line relays mounted?

In cabinet doors, in separate housings or in 19-inch racks. An adapter is available for rear panel mounting.
