Description
FPC 680 is a multifunction intelligent electronic device (IED) for protection and control of feeders, motors, transformers and capacitor banks in medium voltage distribution networks. The terminal is part of the NEO 3000 substation control and protection system, built with a strong focus on safety, dependability and the number of functions.
Within the NEO 3000 system the FPC 680 works together with the CAU 380 bay controller, the SCU 810 system communication unit with the ECU 032 media adapter, and the MCE 940 SCADA software. The standard functions of the system include clock synchronization from GPS/NTP, power quality monitoring, an interactive graphic view of the scheme, and means of local and remote configuration. The communication unit contains a protocol converter, so third-party IEDs can be connected to the system.
The FPC 680 is parameterized with the PC program NEO3000 Power System Manager. Settings can be changed both while connected to the device (online) and without it (offline). Access to changing the settings is password protected, and the interface is built on graphic and tree menus. The offline mode is convenient for preparing settings before a visit to the substation.
Typical application is 6–35 kV switchgear cells of distribution and industrial substations, protecting outgoing lines, motors, transformers and capacitor installations. Detailed technical data (protection functions, inputs, protocols) is not published on the available pages of the official website, so it is clarified with the manufacturer when making an inquiry. The same applies to the number of digital inputs and outputs, the measurement accuracy classes and the dimensions of the enclosure.
