Description
The F-MPC30 and F-MPC60B relays combine the functions of protection, measurement, control and monitoring of high-voltage switchgear bays in one compact unit. The main purpose is 6.6 kV incomers and feeders. Previously these tasks were solved by separate relays, measuring instruments and monitoring devices, which made the circuits more complex and raised the cost. The F-MPC also makes it possible to implement preventive maintenance and recording of the history of events and abnormal values economically.
The F-MPC30 (type UM5ACG-H5R) contains measuring and protection functions in the most commonly used current ranges. This is an economical system configuration with increased operating reliability. The F-MPC60B (type UM43FG-E5AK), in very compact dimensions, combines protection, measurement, control and monitoring and passes the obtained data to upper-level controllers. Its settings are easy to change when circuit parameters change, for example the ratio of a current transformer.
Overcurrent protection is implemented with a choice of characteristic: normal inverse (SI), very inverse (VI), long-time inverse (LT) and extremely inverse (EI). The F-MPC60B additionally has an I²t characteristic and performs voltage protection. According to the catalog, the supply is 100/200 V DC (80–286 V DC) or 100 V AC (85–132 V), with consumption up to 15 W on DC and up to 25 VA on AC. The dielectric strength of the insulation is tested with 2 kV AC for 1 min between electrical circuits and earth, except for the RS-485 lines. For low-voltage circuits, the F-MPC04 series is used together with them.
The devices comply with the Japanese standards for power system protection relays JEC 2500, overcurrent relays JEC-2510 and voltage relays JEC-2511. For 6.6 kV incomers, JIS C 4602 applies, and for measuring instruments, JIS C 1102 and IEC 255-3, -5, -6. The relays are produced for the markets of Asia, the Middle East and China and are used in distribution switchgear of industrial enterprises, buildings and infrastructure facilities. Together with vacuum circuit breakers they form a bay protection set. In purpose the relays are close to microprocessor protection terminals for 6–10 kV bays.
