DynamicMetrix — software for data visualisation and fleet management (Desktop / Fleet)

DynamicMetrix is an asset condition management program that collects data from online monitors of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and other power equipment, analyses it and presents it in a convenient form. It combines the data of the manufacturer's monitors and of third-party devices in one web interface. Operations staff see the current and historical condition of the equipment at a glance.

Description

Online monitors of power equipment accumulate large volumes of data, and without a dedicated tool they are hard to work with. The Desktop version is included free of charge with all of the manufacturer's monitors and gives engineering access to an individual monitor. Through it, data and alarms can be viewed, downloaded and trended, partial discharge and bushing trends can be plotted, and diagnostics can be run. Licensed Fleet Lite and Fleet Enterprise versions automatically poll a large number of monitors, whether transformer, breaker or third-party, without mapping SCADA protocol points, which speeds up maintenance prioritisation and risk assessment.

The Fleet versions offer a problem index, that is, an assessment of asset condition for ranking work, a map of sites by GPS coordinates (online access required), automatic data download, role-based access and real-time data display. Roles such as administrator, asset manager or technician define the functions available to the user after login. The Enterprise edition supports single sign-on (SSO), LDAP, OpenID Connect and multi-factor authentication. Moving from Desktop to Fleet is done as a version upgrade, after which the program collects data from all monitors in the fleet.

The user browses equipment by manufacturer, nameplate data, manufacturing and commissioning dates and serial number, sees the overall risk to the asset condition, and moves on to analyse loads, temperatures, humidity, dissolved gases, cooling and alarms. Built-in analytics and filters compare condition factors across current and historical trends, highlight important tendencies and operating statistics, and show alarm setpoints. Timely information helps plan site visits and reduce the number of trips to the site, which improves personnel safety, and it also helps adjust operating modes and make better use of the equipment. Repairs carried out on time based on this data extend the service life of assets.

The server component requires an 8-core processor and 16 GB of RAM. For the archive, 4 TB of disk space is recommended, and the required volume depends on the number of devices and the desired retention period. Local storage is recommended, while SAN over iSCSI and Fibre Channel are also supported, and NAS over SMB/CIFS is not supported. The operating system is Windows Server 2016 or later (2022 strongly recommended), with the full graphical interface. The firewall must allow HTTP, HTTP2 and HTTPS for connecting client computers.

Questions and answers

How do the Desktop and Fleet versions differ?

Desktop is included free of charge with the monitors and gives engineering access to one monitor. Fleet Lite and Fleet Enterprise are licensed and automatically collect data from many monitors, adding a problem index, a site map and role-based access.

Does the software work with third-party devices?

Yes, it aggregates in one interface the data of both the manufacturer's monitors and third-party devices. Polling in the Fleet versions is done without mapping SCADA protocol points.

What are the server requirements for DynamicMetrix?

An 8-core processor and 16 GB of RAM are required, with 4 TB of disk recommended for the archive. Windows Server 2016 or later is supported, with 2022 strongly recommended, with the full graphical interface.
