DBF / DBN (DBC, DBP, DRV, DCV) distributed busbar differential protection
DBF and DBN are a busbar differential protection system made of a central unit and bay units for substations with any busbar layout, including digital ones. DBF covers up to 24 bays and 4 busbar systems, DBN up to 28-32 bays and 5 busbar systems, using low-impedance differential protection together with breaker failure protection.

Description
Bay units are installed near the cells and connected to the central unit by optical fibre, so copper cables from each CT to a single cabinet are not needed. In DBF, communication can run over a process bus per IEC 61869-9 with GOOSE messages and PRP/HSR redundancy, which suits a digital substation. The central unit determines on which busbar system the fault occurred and trips only its bays. The breaker failure function trips the adjacent breakers if the breaker of the faulted bay has not operated. Cybersecurity is implemented per IEC 62351, IEC 62443 and IEEE 1686.
