Description
BE1-11t is an advanced protection, monitoring and control system for power transformers. Setup and commissioning are simplified by BESTspace™ files, ready-made BESTlogic™Plus schemes and application materials, which speed up implementation and reduce programming complexity. The system is intended for utility, industrial and commercial power systems where protection and control of transformers are needed.
BE1-11t replaces the discontinued transformer relays BE1-87T and BE1-CDS220. It is therefore chosen when transformer protection has to be upgraded without changing the function of the device at the substation.
All BE1-11 versions share one firmware and common platform features: 24 standard time-current characteristics and a practically unlimited number of user-defined curves; Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s over copper or 100 Mbit/s over fibre with IEC 61850, DNP and Modbus® protocols; large screw terminals. The relay provides fault distance location, oscillography, energy consumption records, power quality indicators and breaker monitoring. The front panel has an HMI menu with a large LCD, programmable indicators and labels, and select–execute buttons. Analog outputs are configurable.
Configuration is simplified by BESTspace™ files, ready-made BESTlogic™Plus schemes and application guides, and the offline simulator checks the logic without hardware. Oscillography records fault events for later analysis, and fault distance location shortens the search. Energy consumption records and power quality indicators show the transformer load pattern, while breaker monitoring tracks the condition of the switching device. The offline simulator is convenient at the commissioning stage, because the logic is checked before going to the substation. The HMI menu with a large LCD and programmable indicators on the front panel allow the transformer status and protection signals to be reviewed on site. The same BE1-11 platform means the same tools, curves and protocols apply to transformers as to other protected objects. It is used on step-down and step-up transformers of distribution network substations, unit transformers of power plants, industrial transformers, data centres and renewable energy facilities. The manufacturer designs and builds excitation regulators, protection systems and controllers at its plants in Illinois and Texas, USA.
