Description
BE1-11m is a protection, monitoring and control system for medium and large motors, including asynchronous and synchronous medium voltage machines that drive pumps, fans, compressors, mills and conveyors. The system simplifies setup and combines extended protection functions, configurable BESTlogic™Plus programming and BESTspace™ application files for specific uses.
Thermal protection (motor heating model), differential protection, power monitoring and extended diagnostics protect critical motors from damage, reduce downtime and improve overall system efficiency. For the BE1-11m, mounting plates are produced for installation in a drawout case, and retrofit plates for replacing old relays.
The BE1-11m is part of the SMC-250 synchronous motor control package together with the DECS-250 excitation regulator, and both devices are configured in a single BESTCOMSPlus® program.
All BE1-11 versions share one firmware and common platform features: 24 standard time-current characteristics and a practically unlimited number of user-defined curves; Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s over copper or 100 Mbit/s over fibre with IEC 61850, DNP and Modbus® protocols; large screw terminals. The relay provides fault distance location, oscillography, energy consumption records, power quality indicators and breaker monitoring. The front panel has an HMI menu with a large LCD, programmable indicators and labels, and select–execute buttons. Analog outputs are configurable.
Configuration is simplified by BESTspace™ files, and the offline simulator checks the logic without hardware. Oscillography records starting and fault conditions for later analysis, while energy consumption records and power quality indicators show the motor load. Breaker monitoring tracks the condition of the switching device. Ready-made settings for specific applications are taken from BESTspace™ files, and setpoints and logic are defined in the BESTCOMSPlus® program. It is used for auxiliary motors of power stations, at water supply pumping stations, in oil, gas and chemical production, in the mining and cement industries, and at pulp and paper mills. The manufacturer designs and builds excitation regulators, protection systems and controllers at its plants in Illinois and Texas, USA.
