SEL-787Z / SEL-HZM — high-impedance busbar differential protection
SEL-787Z with the SEL-HZM module provides high-impedance differential protection of one busbar zone using 3 independent elements. The same elements can be used for restricted earth fault (REF) protection of transformers. The terminal replaces the discontinued SEL-587Z.

Description
The high-voltage part is placed in a separate SEL-HZM module, which holds resistors, 7.8 kJ varistors and a bypass relay. The terminal connects to the CT circuits of the feeders in the protected zone. A 5-inch color touchscreen is mounted on the front panel. When upgrading panels from the SEL-587Z, the high-impedance busbar protection principle is retained.
