SEL-411L / SEL-311L / SEL-387L — line differential protection
SEL-411L, SEL-311L and SEL-387L are microprocessor-based longitudinal differential protection terminals for overhead and cable lines. The line ends communicate over optical fiber up to 120 km, through IEEE C37.94 multiplexers or over Ethernet. The SEL-411L-1 locates faults by traveling wave to within ±25 m.

Description
The SEL-411L suits any power lines, including long lines and lines with series compensation. The SEL-311L adds four-zone backup distance protection and autoreclosing. The economical SEL-387L is used on two-terminal lines. Autoreclosing is single-pole and three-pole, with 1 A / 5 A current and 0–300 V (ph-n) voltage inputs. SCADA links use IEC 61850 Ed.2.1 and DNP3 with PRP, PTPv2 and IEEE C37.118 synchrophasors. Optional TiDL or Sampled Values per IEC 61850-9-2 / IEC 61869-9 serve digital substations.
