SEL-2488 / 2401 / 2407 — satellite precision time clocks for substations
SEL-2488, SEL-2401 and SEL-2407 synchronize protection terminals, recorders and PMUs at substations. Output accuracy of IRIG-B, PPS and PTP is ±100 ns. The SEL-2488 can operate as an IEEE 1588 PTP grandmaster and supports PRP.

Description
The primary time source is GPS or PTP, and the GLONASS signal is used for verification. Outputs include IRIG-B, NTP, PTP, 10 MHz and 1 PPS, so one clock serves both terminals with an IRIG-B input and digital substation devices with PTP. If the satellite signal is lost, the DOCXO oscillator holds time with a drift of up to 2.5 µs over 24 h. PRP support in the SEL-2488 is needed for a redundant station bus network.
