Description
The drive is intended for multi-motor systems where several inverters work from a common DC bus. The AC-to-DC converter is made in three variants, namely a diode non-regenerative, a thyristor regenerative and an IGBT rectifier with energy regeneration to the grid. This makes it possible to choose the variant to suit the requirements for braking and power quality. The common DC bus is limited to 1640 A, and the voltage corresponds to the 1.2 kV class at a rated 1250 V AC.
The inverters are built on modular three-level phase assemblies. Each contains an IGBT, a heat pipe cooler and a gate driver board. The modules are mounted on reinforced guides and are drawn out for maintenance, and the mean time to repair is about 30 minutes. Heat pipe cooling reduces the size of the power bridge and fan noise.
The inverter contains data capture buffers with microsecond resolution for analysis of faults and process events. Configuration and monitoring are done over Ethernet with fast data exchange and trends. The I/O board supports an encoder, 24 V DC and 115 V AC discrete signals, analog signals and, optionally, a resolver. Control boards are common to inverters and regenerative rectifiers.
All components require a three-phase supply for the control circuits. Air enters at the front of the cabinet and leaves at the top, at least 500 mm of free space is left above the cabinet, and a steel base at least 50 mm high is required under the panels. Rated currents are continuous, and the TMdrive-T30 requires external DC link reactors. Losses of the TMdrive-D30 and TMdrive-T30 are proportional to load current, while in the TMdrive-P30 about 40 % of losses are fixed. For charging the bus on the TMdrive-D30 and TMdrive-P30 a transient peak of 30 A is provided.
Structurally, each converter requires an external circuit breaker, cable entry is standard from the bottom, and from the top it is made through adjacent auxiliary cabinets. The panels of the TMdrive-D30, TMdrive-P30 and the capacitor panels of the TMdrive-T30 are 800 mm deep. The intermediate voltage class between the low-voltage TMdrive-10e2 drives and the medium-voltage TMdrive-50/70 is useful where neither of them fits the parameters, for example on multi-motor lines and crane equipment.
