Description
The system for a specific test task is designed by the manufacturer's engineers together with the customer, with an economical design in mind. Engineering is carried out centrally, and the components are matched to each other on the basis of analysis of the network, switching-on conditions and operating modes. Converters and control systems are supplied by partners with whom the manufacturer has cooperated for many years. The motor, converter, control system and supply transformer are matched to each other from the start, and the customer has one supplier for the whole stand. Low-voltage systems cover 400–690 V and outputs from 200 to approximately 3000 kW.
The supply programme includes low-, medium- and high-voltage frequency converters, soft starters for motors of all voltages, excitation devices, rheostatic starters, control and regulation systems, container design and supply transformers. The frequency converter sets the speed and load of the machine under test, the soft starter limits the starting current of large motors, and the excitation device feeds the field windings of synchronous machines on the stand. The manufacturer separately names flexible concepts for individual tests, special schemes with converters and soft starters, smooth operation of the installation even in extreme conditions, high system efficiency and low operating costs. Drives and controllers have flexible settings and a robust design, so the test field stays in operation longer and maintenance costs are lower.
The scope of work covers project analysis and planning, consulting on energy consumption and energy efficiency, development of the system with detailed engineering, and integration into existing production. The whole system and individual components are tested, and documentation is prepared. The manufacturer supports the customer during dismantling, installation, cabling and commissioning, and provides after-sales service regardless of where the motors and converters work.
The plant's own test field in Berlin/Hennigsdorf is rated for 2300 kVA and a voltage of 400–13,800 V, with converters up to 120 Hz. On it, no-load tests are performed up to 10 MW, load tests up to 1.8 MW and dual-frequency heating up to 5 MW, and the field is also available to external customers. The drive systems are installed at test stations of electrical machine and transformer plants, repair companies and research centres.
