Description
The inverter is built on a multilevel pulse-width-modulated scheme with a neutral point clamped (NPC) topology on medium voltage IGBTs. This topology gives compactness, a small number of components and a lower cost. Fewer components mean fewer points of failure in the power section. The output voltage is close to a sine wave, so existing motors are connected to the drive without filters and special cables, and without neutral shift. This simplifies the upgrade of pump and fan installations where the old motor is kept.
The built-in phase-shifting isolation transformer reduces harmonics to the requirements of IEEE 519-2014, and from the network side the drive looks almost like a linear load. A separate input transformer is not needed, which reduces the installation area. The T300MV2 is connected on the principle of three cables in and three cables out, and the power for the control circuits and fans is generated inside the cabinet. Installers only need to run three input and three output power cables.
The input disconnect is lockable and interlocked with the vacuum contactor, and its position is visible through an inspection window. The precharge circuit limits inrush current at switch-on, and the oil-filled capacitors have a calculated service life of 20 years. The drive has 10 digital and 3 analog I/O with expansion to 8 outputs, and the synchronous transfer function allows several motors to be transferred from the drive to the line in turn.
The T300BMV2 is an economy version with aluminum windings of the 24-pulse transformer and a 5-level output. In the T300MV2 F4-OA the power modules are cooled with filtered outdoor air through air ducts, heat does not enter the room, and the inlet air temperature can be from −45 to +50 °C. Air conditioning costs for the electrical room fall as a result. The Regen module with an active rectifier gives four-quadrant operation and 100 % energy regeneration into the network with an adjustable power factor.
The previous generation T300MVi is upgraded to T300MV2 by replacing the control platform, while the power section stays in place. The drives work at water utility pumping stations, oil and gas and mining enterprises, cement plants, power plant auxiliary systems and data center cooling. It is made by the company's Houston (USA) subsidiary, its laboratories are accredited to ISO 9001:2015, NVLAP and UL, and service centers operate in Houston and Edmonton.

Questions and answers
What voltage and power is the T300MV2 made for?
For 2 400, 3 300, 4 160, 6 600 and 6 900 V in the range from 300 to 11 000 hp.
Are filters needed to connect an existing motor?
No, the output voltage of the multilevel NPC inverter is close to a sine wave. Existing motors are connected without filters and special cables.
How do the F4-OA and Regen versions differ?
The F4-OA cools the power modules with filtered outdoor air at a temperature from −45 to +50 °C. The Regen has an active rectifier for four-quadrant operation and 100 % energy regeneration into the network.
