Description
Silcovert FH is built as a multilevel voltage source inverter with an active front end (AFE), without an input transformer. The rating is up to 2.5 MVA, the voltage is 3.3–6.6 kV and the output frequency is 0–75 Hz. Cooling is water or air, although the list of frame sizes SVFH400A33, SVFH800A33, SVFH1K3A33, SVFH500A41, SVFH1K0A41, SVFH1K6A41, SVFH700A60, SVFH1K5A60, SVFH2K3A60 and SVFH800A66 states air cooling and a metal cabinet resistant to internal arc.
Four-quadrant energy exchange opens the way to energy regeneration in complex process applications. The drive copes better with unexpected voltage fluctuations and regulates reactive power. This is useful where motors are started and stopped often, and when modernising existing installations, since the drive is gentle on the motor. According to the brochure, efficiency exceeds 98 % and losses are 50 % lower than in a standard DFE drive.
The absence of an input transformer reduces the weight, dimensions and losses of the system and simplifies installation. Silcovert FH belongs to the Silcovert family and is built on standard modular components. The patented power module topology has very low switching losses, which extends the service life of the components. The control cabinet contains functionally tested conformally coated boards, redundant serial links and hard-wired critical signals. The cooling fan is redundant.
The drive is compact and designed for simplified installation in almost any environment. According to the brochure, it is suitable for modernisation and for reducing reactive power consumption from the network, especially with frequent starts and stops. The control system has two password-protected access levels. The owner assigns who connects to the drive and with what rights, from viewing to full control for service specialists. The network, converter and motor connection scheme is certified by CESI (type conformity certificate under the HV-LV Type 1 scheme).
The drive is used for pumps, fans, compressors, blowers, chillers, conveyors, crushers, extruders, mixers, mills and test stands. Industries are metallurgy, mining and cement, oil and gas, power generation, marine installations, the chemical industry and material handling systems.

Questions and answers
What rating and voltage range does Silcovert FH have?
Rating up to 2.5 MVA at 3.3–6.6 kV, output frequency 0–75 Hz. Cooling is water or air.
Is an input transformer needed?
No, the drive is transformerless, and the active front end works without an input transformer. This reduces weight, dimensions and losses and simplifies installation.
Does Silcovert FH support energy regeneration?
Yes, four-quadrant energy exchange makes it possible to return energy and regulate reactive power. The connection scheme is certified by CESI under the HV-LV Type 1 scheme.
