Description
HYDRALTA NG is a digital automatic voltage regulator that controls the stator voltage and field current of synchronous generators and motors. A wide set of functions and parameters makes it suitable for various excitation systems, including hydro units and complex industrial machines. The regulator controls thyristor bridges through a phase-pulse control board or IGBT bridges regardless of the required power, from a few amperes to thousands of amperes, and has logic inputs and outputs for monitoring and controlling external equipment.
The regulator maintains voltage (AUTO mode), field current (MANUAL), power factor and reactive power. There is voltage matching, reactive power droop for parallel operation (0–20%), tracking between automatic and manual modes, and manual and automatic soft start. The field current, absorbed and delivered reactive power, stator current and the U/f ratio are limited. Separately provided are detection of rotating diode failures (RDF), recording of electrical parameters during a fault, management of excitation redundancy, protection functions and sequence control, and measurement of three-phase voltage and single- or three-phase stator current. Options include a power system stabilizer (PSS), changing the limit setpoints from an external temperature sensor, and redundancy with a second HYDRALTA NG regulator.
Supply is 24 V DC (18–36 V), consumption up to 75 W. Stator voltage is measured by a 100–120 V AC 50/60 Hz input in the range of 0–165% of rated, bus voltage by an 80–120% input, and stator current by a 1 A input (0–140%). Voltage regulation accuracy is 0.2% in the range of ±10% of rated, and field current accuracy is 0.2% in the range of 0–1.2 of rated.
There are four programmable analog inputs and four ±10 V outputs, logic inputs (excitation on, manual mode, raise/lower, positions of the generator and line breakers, cos φ/var mode selection, reset) and outputs (healthy, trip, excitation contactor control). Communication is through Modbus TCP/IP for setup and monitoring, and oscillography is available. Operating temperature is +5…+50 °C, storage −20…+70 °C, humidity up to 80%, dimensions 410 × 300 × 86.5 mm.
