Description
The DECS-100 regulator combines a full set of functions in a compact and economical design. It is based on the many years of the manufacturer's experience in digital excitation control. It regulates voltage precisely and responds quickly, while protecting the generator and the excitation system. The microprocessor controller combines many functions with ease of use. Fewer external components are needed, so installation costs less and specific customer requirements are easy to meet.
The 7 A pulse-width modulated power stage provides high excitation forcing and fast system response. The regulator measures RMS values, and the robust power stage keeps the unit operating reliably with strongly distorted voltage waveforms produced by non-linear loads. Built-in generator and exciter protections keep the whole system in a safe operating mode. Standard functions include parallel operation of generators with reactive droop compensation and reactive differential compensation, and among the protections, generator overvoltage protection.
The case is filled with compound. This construction withstands harsh operating conditions and is designed for many years of service without failures. The regulator is used on diesel and gas engine generator sets, small hydro plants and industrial synchronous machines.
Earlier DECS-100 versions with increased 10 A output at 55 °C, part numbers 9287500147 for 1 A CTs and 9287500148 for 5 A CTs, have been discontinued. For new projects the manufacturer also offers the DECS-150 and DECS-250. The regulator requires a minimum of external components, so the wiring is simple and the cabinet compact. A Bureau Veritas document covers the DECS-100, DECS-100MLS, DECS-100LR and DM110. It is valid until 26 February 2028 and applies to steel vessels under the classification rules, environmental category EC Code 31, and EMC requirements for general power distribution zones. The document contains EMC and surge immunity test records, functional and climatic tests from 2012, and a DECS-100 test record from 2022. The BESTCOMS programme is not included in the certificate. The full certificate with its annex must be requested from the manufacturer.

Questions and answers
What excitation current does the DECS-100 provide?
The PWM power stage is rated for 7 A. The versions with increased 10 A output at 55 °C have been discontinued.
How does the DECS-100 operate with distorted voltage?
The regulator measures RMS values and its power stage is robust, so the unit operates stably with strongly distorted voltage waveforms caused by non-linear loads.
What should be used instead of the DECS-100 in new projects?
For new projects the manufacturer offers the DECS-150 and DECS-250 regulators. The final choice depends on the excitation current and the power supply scheme.
