SE-039 (Hydrogen & Moisture Sensor) is a multi-parameter sensor for transformers that measures hydrogen, moisture, pressure and oil temperature in one housing. Hydrogen is measured in the range 25–5000 ppm, temperature from −40 to 125 °C, with RS-485 Modbus RTU output.

Description
SE-039 is a multi-parameter sensor for online monitoring of power transformers that combines four measurements in one housing: dissolved hydrogen, moisture content, oil pressure and oil temperature. Analysing these quantities together gives more reliable hydrogen and moisture trends and makes it possible to detect developing defects before an emergency failure and power outage. Oil pressure and temperature help to detect possible leaks and to correlate moisture with temperature.
Excess moisture in the paper winding insulation lowers dielectric strength and the partial discharge inception voltage, making the transformer more vulnerable to damage. Monitoring moisture together with temperatures therefore reveals hazardous conditions long before damage occurs. The sensor needs no calibration gases or carrier gas, has no scheduled maintenance and practically needs no resources to keep it working. For this reason, and because of full SCADA integration, it suits mass deployment across a fleet of distribution transformers and large industrial plants. The data makes it possible to rank transformers approaching the end of their service life, plan their replacement and extend the operation of the rest.
Hydrogen is measured in the range 25–5000 ppm (20% of reading or ±25 ppm), moisture 0–95% relative saturation or 1–10 000 ppm (±2%), pressure 0–205 kPa (±2% of full scale), temperature from −40 to 125 °C (±0.1 °C). Operating temperature from −40 to 70 °C, storage from −40 to 85 °C. Mineral oil, silicone fluid, natural and synthetic esters are supported. Power supply 12–30 V DC, consumption not more than 12 W, RS-485 (3-wire) Modbus RTU output with programmable speed through a 5-pin M16 connector. Stainless steel housing with IP68 protection rating, designed for substation conditions.
The sensor is supplied with a 1½″ threaded adapter and a robust power and communication cable 5 m long, while 1″ and 2″ adapters and 10 m and 20 m cables are available on request. SE-039 operates standalone, transmitting data to upper-level systems via SCADA protocols. It is fully integrated with the B100 temperature monitor and is compatible with the Rotating Wetwell Valve, which improves access to the circulating oil and allows the sensor to be replaced without downtime.
