Description
OnCare.Health Hydro is a system for monitoring and analysing the technical condition of hydro units, built on the manufacturer's own experience in operating and servicing hydropower plants and on customer experience. Its task is to detect developing turbine and generator defects in time, defects that lead to forced outages and lost output, and to move the plant from emergency maintenance to condition-based maintenance. The system scales to different types, sizes and operating modes of machines. Ready-made sensor configurations are offered, as well as custom development of protection, monitoring and analysis interfaces.
The architecture is modular. It makes it possible to use process data already available at the plant without duplicating measurements and to exchange results with other systems, and existing monitoring equipment can be extended or upgraded after a standard survey. One server manages up to 100 data acquisition modules; several client workstations with a central asset overview, simple local screens for walk-downs, automatic backup and SCADA integration are available.
The monitored parameters cover the generator and the turbine. These are the phase reference, absolute bearing vibration, relative shaft vibration, vibration of the stator winding end windings and core, air gap, magnetic flux, partial discharges, shaft currents, generator and turbine temperatures, axial vibration and oil film thickness of the thrust bearing, vibration of the turbine cover and guide vane, labyrinth clearances (Francis) and runner chamber clearances (Kaplan, bulb), cavitation, pressure, ozone concentration and sediment. Measurements are evaluated with regard to the mode and operating point of the unit, with flexible limits, trends, correlations and frequency analysis according to current ISO standards.
According to the manufacturer, the system is installed at more than 300 sites, provides up to 25 hours of additional availability per unit per year and up to 53 % fewer unplanned repairs. References include Belo Monte (18 × 671 MW), Tarbela 4, Teles Pires, Frades, Yacyretá (20 × 145 MW Kaplan), Cambambe II, Ffestiniog and Sedrun. The system is designed for hydro units with Francis and Kaplan turbines, including bulb turbines. Related services are remote support and training.
