MSENSE FO, fiber-optic winding temperature measurement
MSENSE FO measures the winding temperature of power transformers directly, using fiber-optic sensors inside the winding. These data give the hot-spot temperature in real time and are used to manage transformer overload.
- Method
- fiber-optic sensors in the winding
- Purpose
- real-time hot-spot monitoring, overload management
- Communication
- connection to SCADA, ETOS

Description
The sensors are installed directly in the winding, so the temperature is obtained by direct measurement rather than calculated from the oil temperature. Hot-spot monitoring runs in real time. Overload management is built on these data, when a transformer has to be loaded temporarily above its rating. The system connects to SCADA and to ETOS.
