KSTAR SDM630MCT V2, three-phase smart meter for DIN rail (1 A / 5 A transformers)
The KSTAR SDM630MCT V2 is a three-phase smart meter for DIN rail connected through 1 A or 5 A current transformers. Metering is bidirectional, with active energy per IEC 62053-22 class 0.5S. Communication is over RS-485 (Modbus RTU), and it is used at solar plants for zero export and export control.

Description
The SDM630MCT V2 from KSTAR is connected through current transformers with a 1 A or 5 A secondary winding and a primary current of 1–9999 A. The transformers are not included in the delivery set and are selected and supplied by the user. According to the datasheet, the primary rating of the transformer must exceed the maximum current on the AC bus, and this current is estimated as the system power divided by 230 and by 3, with a margin of 1.2. The meter belongs to the SDM630MCT line, which covers a platform for three-phase systems with bidirectional metering and accuracy class 0.5S. There is also a version with 40 mA transformers, but this page describes the V2 variant for 1 A and 5 A transformers.
The KSTAR device measures true RMS values, including harmonics, in a three-phase network (3P and 3P+N). It shows active and reactive energy, active, reactive and apparent power, frequency, power factor, peak power values, voltage, current and THD distortion. Metering is bidirectional, import (IMP) and export (EXP) of energy are counted separately, and this is exactly what systems with zero export and feed-in to the grid need.
The accuracy is as follows. Active energy is measured per IEC 62053-22 class 0.5S and IEC 62053-21 class 1.0, and reactive energy per IEC 62053-23 class 2. Voltage and current are measured with an error of 0.5 % of the range maximum, and power with an error of 1 %. This is sufficient for energy settlements and for monitoring plant operation.
Communication is over RS-485 using the Modbus RTU protocol, with addresses 1–247, a line length of up to 1000 m, and baud rates from 1200 to 38400 bit/s. The response time is less than 100 ms. There are two pulse outputs. The rated voltage is 380/400 V, and the operating range is 173–480 V between phases. The enclosure is mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail and takes little space in the cabinet.
The manufacturer recommends using the SDM630MCT V2 together with KSTAR commercial and industrial string inverters. Application: commercial and industrial solar installations, zero export and grid export functions, integration with SCADA and energy management systems, and monitoring of the grid connection point.
