Description
The equipment monitoring and digitalisation platform was launched in 2022. Its aim is to make intelligent monitoring available for every product that the manufacturer builds or services. For power transformers, whose expected service life is at least 40 years, the system helps prevent failures and detect developing defects at an early stage. Power transformers are critical grid assets. The system concentrates on the most critical parts: winding insulation, high-voltage bushings and the OLTC.
There are three standard packages, and any transformer can be fitted with one of them. iReady+ is the entry level, iStandard emphasises the condition of winding insulation and intelligent cooling control, and iAdvanced is the most complete digitalisation package. At the E.ON Örmező substation in Budapest a 40 MVA transformer was commissioned with the iAdvanced++ package and a graphical interface in Hungarian. For special applications and operator requirements, custom configurations are developed. Such configurations take into account the requirements of the specific operator and the needs of special applications, and the set of monitored components and functions is selected for the specific transformer.
The portfolio was created in a strategic cooperation with a partner. It covers analysis of gases dissolved in oil, fibre-optic measurement of winding temperature, detection and localisation of partial discharges, monitoring of cooling and bushings, OLTC monitoring and other functions. The basic functions of the platform are signal acquisition, configurable alarms, display of current and historical data, data logging and export, and data transfer over standard protocols to SCADA systems.
Digital twins are one of the main directions, and in 2023 the manufacturer delivered the first transformer in Hungary with a thermal digital twin model. The system can be installed on a new transformer at the factory or on a transformer already in service at a substation. It is supplied as a factory option on the manufacturer's new transformers and as a retrofit of existing transformers of any type and any manufacturer. Retrofitting makes it possible to extend service life, plan replacement on the basis of data and integrate ageing equipment into the digital infrastructure. The result is a move to condition-based maintenance, lower repair costs and fewer and shorter unplanned outages.

Questions and answers
How do the iReady+, iStandard and iAdvanced packages differ?
iReady+ is the basic one, iStandard monitors winding insulation and controls cooling, iAdvanced is the most complete, and there is also an iAdvanced++ version.
What transformer parameters does the system monitor?
Gases dissolved in oil, winding temperature by optical fibre, partial discharges, cooling, bushings and the OLTC.
Can the system be installed on a working transformer of another manufacturer?
Yes, the system is supplied as a retrofit for existing transformers of any type and any manufacturer. Data is passed to SCADA over standard protocols.
