Monitoring of rotating machines and GIS (SF6), iReady / iStandard / iAdvanced packages
Continuous monitoring packages for generators, motors and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) with SF6. For machines they measure winding and bearing temperature, vibration and partial discharges, and for GIS temperature, humidity, pressure and density of the gas. They are used on new and existing installations of any manufacturer.
- Packages for machines
- iReady (winding and bearing temperature, vibration), iStandard (cooling, lubrication), iAdvanced (online PD monitoring)
- Sensors
- RTD, vibration, cooling and lubrication parameters, partial discharges; options: brush wear, current analysis, speed, fibre-optic temperature
- GIS
- temperature, humidity, pressure and density of SF6; detection and localisation of PD
- Application
- generators, motors, GIS of any manufacturer

Description
For rotating machines and SF6 gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) the platform offers separate continuous monitoring packages. Rotating machines in generation and drives face the same tasks as transformers: an unplanned outage of a single unit can cost hundreds of thousands of euros. The system therefore continuously tracks the components most critical for the condition and operation of the machine.
For generators and motors there are three standard packages with increasing capability. iReady measures winding and bearing temperature and monitors vibration. iStandard additionally digitalises auxiliary cooling and lubrication systems. iAdvanced is an extended package with online partial discharge monitoring. The system is open and flexible and supports resistance temperature detectors (RTD), vibration sensors, monitoring of auxiliary equipment, cooling and lubrication parameters, and partial discharges. For generators and motors the packages combine temperature and vibration measurement with monitoring of auxiliary systems, and partial discharges are tracked online in the top package. Brush wear monitoring, current signature analysis, speed measurement and fibre-optic temperature sensors are available as options.
For GIS the task is linked to the transition from SF6 to environmentally friendly gases. SF6 has to be replaced in all applications, but immediate replacement of equipment is financially out of reach for many owners, and according to surveys the main causes of GIS failures are wear and corrosion, which noticeably increases the number of failures and maintenance costs. Ageing of the GIS fleet and the move to eco-friendly gases are happening at the same time, so owners continue to operate existing equipment under continuous monitoring. Monitoring makes it possible to operate ageing GIS during the transition period through continuous monitoring of temperature, humidity, pressure and density of the gas, and through detection and localisation of partial discharges.
The general functions of the platform are signal acquisition, configurable alarms, visualisation of current and archive data, logging and export, and data transfer over standard protocols. The packages are used both on the manufacturer's new machines (factory option) and for retrofitting equipment of any manufacturer. This moves maintenance to the actual condition and reduces unplanned outages.
