IKI-20 and IKI-10-Light, non-directional short-circuit and earth fault indicators for MV networks
IKI-20 and IKI-10-Light are non-directional short-circuit and earth fault indicators for medium-voltage cable distribution networks. IKI-20 is powered from current transformers and is maintenance-free, while IKI-10-Light-W is single-phase with an IP65 enclosure.

Description
IKI-20 is intended for detecting, indicating and remotely signalling faults in medium-voltage cable distribution networks. In networks with solidly, low-resistance or short-time low-resistance earthed neutral it also detects short-circuit earth faults. In compensated and isolated networks it indicates earth faults without determining direction. No maintenance is required, because the device is powered from current transformers.
The measured values are processed according to a definite-time characteristic (overcurrent protection), and the RMS value of the current is measured. The LCD shows clear symbols, with a bright flashing LED next to it. The operating current and time are set separately for short circuits (100–2000 A, 60–200 ms) and for earth short circuits (40–150 A, 60–200 ms). The reset mode and time are selected from a list: automatic, manual, after 2 or 4 hours, or by an external contact. The relays operate as continuous or pulsed contacts. The self-test is started by a button on site or remotely through the auxiliary input. The device is suitable for ring and radial networks without switching, and it separately shows the first and second fault in networks with auto-reclosing.
There are three versions according to power supply buffering. IKI-20T is powered from a 110–230 V AC network with a capacitor buffer of at least 12 h. IKI-20U operates from an auxiliary voltage of 24–230 V AC/DC with a capacitor. IKI-20B has a lithium battery with a service life of over 17 years. The relay outputs are distinguished as X1 (one relay for all faults), X2 (separate short-circuit and earth fault) and X3 (per phase L1, L2, L3). The contacts switch 250 V AC or 220 V DC, 0.1 A. The 48 × 96 × 80 mm enclosure conforms to DIN 43700, IP40, −25…+75 °C. At a primary current of 5 A and above the power is supplied entirely from split-core current transformers, and at 1–5 A it is mixed.
IKI-10-Light-W is a simple single-phase non-directional earth short-circuit indicator. It works exclusively with the IKI-GSU cable (summation) current transformer. The settings are 25, 50, 60 and 80 A and 70 and 250 ms. A built-in lithium battery buffer is provided, with a 110–230 V AC supply. The signal is output by an LED, an external lamp or a mechanical flag. The enclosure is wall-mounted, IP65.

Questions and answers
Does the IKI-20 need an external power supply?
At a primary current of 5 A and above the device is powered from split-core current transformers. The buffered versions T, U and B have a capacitor or a lithium battery with a service life of over 17 years.
What short-circuit and earth fault settings can be set?
For short circuits 100–2000 A at 60–200 ms, for earth short circuits 40–150 A at 60–200 ms. Reset is automatic, manual, after 2 or 4 hours, or by an external contact.
How does the IKI-10-Light-W differ from the IKI-20?
It is a single-phase earth short-circuit indicator with the IKI-GSU cable current transformer. The settings are 25, 50, 60 and 80 A, with a wall-mounted IP65 enclosure.
