Description
The Flowatch, Xtreme S and Totem multiphase flow meters and the WLR meter water-cut meter measure the oil, water and gas flow rates in well production in real time. Prior phase separation is not required. The instruments are installed on the wellhead equipment of onshore and offshore wells and on floating units for testing and monitoring, in place of bulky test separators. The technology platform is confirmed by more than 15 years of operating experience.
The measuring module is based on a Venturi tube. The mixture density is determined from the differential pressure, the flow velocity is found by cross-correlation of signals or by a separate velocity module, and the water cut by the WLR microwave water-cut meter. The Flowatch 3i is non-radioactive and is designed for basic well testing: water cut 0–100 %, gas volume fraction GVF 0–92 %, typical liquid uncertainty ±3 % up to 80 % GVF and ±4 % in the 80–92 % GVF range, gas uncertainty ±7 %. Sizes start from 0.5″, pressure loss is less than 1 bar. If needed it can be upgraded with a radioactive densitometer.
The Flowatch HS contains a gamma densitometer with a Cs-137 source of 5 mCi activity. It covers GVF up to 98 % with a liquid uncertainty of ±3–5 %, gas ±4–5 % and water cut ±2–5 %, sizes from 1.3″. The Xtreme S is a modular non-intrusive non-radioactive wet gas flow meter for conditions with a Lockhart–Martinelli parameter below 0.3. The ranges are GVF 90–100 % and WLR 0–100 %, the uncertainty is ±4 % for gas and ±10 % for liquid at a flow above 10 m³/h. Sizes are from 2″ to 14″, with ANSI/API flanged or hub connections. The body of UNS 31803 duplex steel, Inconel 625, SS316 or Inconel 825 complies with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
The design pressure of all models is up to 5000 psi (345 bar) and the temperature up to 121 °C. The electronics unit is built on a real-time controller running Linux. The interfaces are RS-485/RS-422 (single or redundant) and Ethernet, the protocols are Modbus and TCP/IP. Power supply is 24 V DC or 110–240 V AC, ingress protection is IP66, explosion protection is ATEX/IECEx Ex d or Ex ia IIB T3–T6. The equipment is certified to PED 2014/68/EU and is also supplied in a skid-mounted version.
