FioMaster / FioMinor — orifice fittings (orifice plate chambers) for gas flow measurement
FioMaster and FioMinor orifice fittings measure gas flow by the differential pressure method on a standard orifice plate. FioMaster chambers come in sizes from 2″ to 24″ and allow the plate to be replaced without stopping the flow. They are installed at gas distribution stations, metering stations of trunk gas pipelines, production fields and gas processing plants.

Description
FioMaster and FioMinor are orifice fittings (orifice plate chambers) for measuring gas flow by the differential pressure method. A concentrated pressure drop is deliberately created on a stainless steel disc with a calibrated bore, that is, on the orifice plate. From the measured differential pressure, pressure and temperature, the flow computer determines the volumetric or mass gas flow. The method is used for custody and process metering at gas distribution stations, metering stations of trunk gas pipelines, production fields and gas processing plants.
All FioMaster chambers are designed and manufactured to ISO 5167 and API/AGA 14.3. FioMaster is a dual-chamber design in which the plate is withdrawn and replaced without stopping the flow or depressurizing the pipeline. The plate in its carrier is moved from the lower (working) chamber to the upper one through a plug valve, after which the upper chamber is isolated, vented and opened.
The design includes an equalizing valve, a bleed valve, a safety stop and an indicator plate that clearly shows the position of the plug valve inside the body. The alignment mechanism of the plate carrier sets its correct position in the flow. The chambers are made in a nominal size range from 2″ to 24″, and for sizes 16″–24″ a support with a hinged joint is provided. The parts are machined on CNC machines under strict quality control, which keeps the characteristics stable over a long service life.
FioMinor is a simpler design. The plate in it is easily replaced after the gas flow in the pipeline section where the fitting is installed has been stopped. The inner surface of the meter tube is carefully ground within the tolerances of ISO/API/AGA 14.3. Each version can be modified to order by adding the required options. FioMaster chambers fall under directive PED 97/23/EC and require CE marking. Natural gas installations must comply with local regulations or at least with EN 12186 or EN 12279. If necessary, the user installs a pressure limiting system, as well as a relief and drain system, to release the pressure and the medium before inspection and maintenance. The manufacturer places both models in the gas metering equipment range together with turbine, rotary and ultrasonic meters.

Questions and answers
Which standards are FioMaster chambers made to?
All FioMaster chambers are designed and manufactured to ISO 5167 and API/AGA 14.3.
Can the plate be replaced without stopping the flow?
In FioMaster yes, under pressure, through a plug valve between the chambers. In FioMinor the plate is replaced after the gas flow has been stopped.
What nominal size range do FioMaster chambers have?
From 2″ to 24″. For sizes 16″–24″ a support with a hinged joint is provided.
