Description
The CRS-04 and CRS-03 pulse loggers are connected to a gas meter, and the meter becomes an element of a remote reading system. They work with diaphragm, rotary and turbine meters equipped with a pulse sensor, count the volume passing through, determine and record hourly consumption peaks and send the data to the gas supplier. With such data the contracted capacity can be ordered in line with the real needs of the consumer, and settlements can be made under tariffs with hourly control.
CRS-04 is the newer model. Pulses are read by an intelligent electronic magnetic sensor or a reed sensor on the LF input, and consumption is calculated in cubic metres and kilowatt-hours. Data goes through SMS or GPRS (TCP/UDP) using the SMART-GAS protocol (ST-IGG-0201:2018) with backward compatibility with the 2014 version, as well as Gaz-Modem 2/3. 24 schedules are available and data can be sent to up to three different collection systems, with AES128 encryption. The DUO SIM option switches between the built-in eSIM and an ordinary microSIM. Local access is through Bluetooth 3.0 and the OPTO-GAZ optical port, and configuration is done with the mCCTool (Android) and CCTool (Windows) applications.
The device detects removal from the meter, exposure to a magnetic field and opening of the housing. It transmits diagnostics, including signal level, temperature, flow rate and GPS location, and supports remote updates. Explosion protection is II 3(2)G Ex ic [ia] IIA T4 Gc (KOMAG 17 ATEX 0045X) for zone 2. The housing is made of ABS and polycarbonate, IP66, 180×125×35 mm. The 5×AA battery pack with a capacity of 13.5 Ah is designed for up to 10 years, and the operating temperature is from −30 to +55 °C. Adapters allow the logger to be mounted quickly directly on the meter index.
CRS-03 is the previous model with a GSM module for 900/1800 MHz and a permanently active nine-digit display. It records volume at operating conditions and the maximum hourly increment with the date, and has an LF pulse input and an LFb control input for tamper and cable break signalling. Hourly data is stored for at least 280 days, and the lithium battery lasts at least 5 years. The marking is II 3G(2)G Ex nA[ia] IIA T4, the protection degree is IP65, the dimensions are 110×75×60 mm and the operating temperature is from −25 to +55 °C. It is used for remote metering at commercial and industrial consumers, boiler houses and gas regulator stations.

Questions and answers
Which gas meters do CRS-04 and CRS-03 work with?
With diaphragm, rotary and turbine meters that have a pulse sensor. Pulses are read by a reed or magnetic sensor on the LF input.
How does CRS-04 transmit data and how is it protected?
Through SMS or GPRS (TCP/UDP) using the SMART-GAS protocol (ST-IGG-0201:2018) and Gaz-Modem 2/3. Data is encrypted with AES128, and locally the device is accessible through Bluetooth 3.0 and the OPTO-GAZ port.
What explosion protection and battery life do the loggers have?
CRS-04 is marked II 3(2)G Ex ic [ia] IIA T4 Gc for zone 2 and runs up to 10 years on a 5×AA pack. CRS-03 is marked II 3G(2)G Ex nA[ia] IIA T4, and its lithium battery is designed for at least 5 years.
