CGZW — orifice plate gas metering device with replaceable orifice, DN 50–400, PN16–PN110
CGZW orifice metering devices with a replaceable orifice plate for gas metering on pipelines DN 50–400 at PN16–PN110. The single-chamber housing allows the orifice plate to be inspected and replaced without removal from the pipeline. Used in commercial metering stations and on process gas transport and distribution lines.

Description
CGZW orifice devices (in Polish terminology orifice gas meters) measure the volume of gas flowing in a pipeline. They are installed in commercial metering stations, on process gas transport and distribution lines and wherever control flow measurement is needed. The principle of operation is simple. The pressure difference created by the orifice plate is proportional to the square of the flow velocity and the gas density, and the volume is calculated by a connected computer or corrector.
The CGZW-02 set consists of three parts. These are the inlet measuring section, a single-chamber housing with a replaceable orifice plate and the outlet section with two thermowells. The housing is made with S-S, K-S, S-K or K-K connections, that is, a combination of weld-end and flanged ones. The lengths of the straight sections are selected for the requirements of a specific metering station. On each side of the housing there are two impulse ports of ¼ or ½ NPT for static pressure and differential pressure, and at the bottom there is a cleaning hatch.
The main advantage of the design is access to the orifice plate. It is inspected and replaced without removing the housing from the pipeline and without disassembly. Through the hatch contamination is removed from the housing and the condition of the seals is assessed, so inspection is simpler and shorter than with traditional single-chamber housings. There is also continuous monitoring of possible leaks around the orifice plate. It removes the uncertainty caused by gas that has bypassed the orifice plate and remained unmetered.
The devices are made for pipelines from DN 50 to DN 400, and to order housings of DN 500, 600 and 700. The nominal pressures PN16, PN20, PN50, PN64, PN100 and PN110 allow CGZW to be installed in high-pressure metering stations at gas distribution stations and trunk gas pipelines. The gas temperature is allowed from −20 to +60 °C, and the ambient temperature from −25 to +70 °C. The catalogue gives the weights and dimensions of the housings, from 15 kg for DN 50 to 594 kg for DN 400.
The range also includes the CGZW-03 and CGZ-01 versions. Both have CE declarations of conformity. They were issued under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) with the participation of the notified body UDT-CERT (No. 1433).

Questions and answers
What diameters and pressures does the CGZW series cover?
Pipelines from DN 50 to DN 400, and to order housings of DN 500, 600 and 700. The nominal pressure is PN16, PN20, PN50, PN64, PN100 or PN110.
Can the orifice plate be replaced without removing the housing?
Yes. The housing has a cleaning hatch, so the orifice plate is inspected and replaced without taking the housing off the pipeline and without disassembling it. Leaks around the orifice plate are monitored continuously.
What gas and ambient temperatures are allowed?
Gas from −20 to +60 °C, ambient from −25 to +70 °C. The housing weight depends on the diameter, from 15 kg for DN 50 to 594 kg for DN 400.
