Description
The WI-72 units, also written WI72 in the documentation, are gas-insulated with a rated voltage of 72.5 kV. The company supplies them as an industrial substation in a prefabricated modular building. The units comply with the IEC 62271-203 standard and work in networks with an operating voltage of 66 kV, with a single busbar system. The series is used for reconstruction of existing substations.
The architecture is taken from medium-voltage units with built-in protection and control devices. The unit has a busbar compartment and a separate compartment for the three-position disconnector and circuit breaker. It includes a vacuum circuit breaker, a three-position disconnector with earthing switch, a current transformer and a capacitive voltage presence indicator. Cables enter at the rear through bushings with an external cone of type F, and the operating mechanisms of the devices are electrical and mechanical. Circuit breaker units and disconnector units with busbar measurement are available.
There are several connection variants. These are one or two cables per phase with an LPVT voltage sensor, up to three cables per phase, one or two cables with surge arresters, and one cable with surge arresters and an LPVT or a voltage transformer. The rated feeder and busbar current is 1250 A, the frequency is 50/60 Hz, the short-time withstand current is 25 kA for 3 s and the peak withstand current is 62.5 kA. Internal arc resistance corresponds to class IAC AFL 25 kA, 1 s. The power frequency withstand voltage is 140 kV to earth and 160 kV across the isolating distance, and the lightning impulse is 325 and 375 kV respectively. The circuit breaker operating sequence is O–0.3 s–CO–1 min–CO.
The units are prepared for Internet of Things sensors and digital condition monitoring, measurement, protection and control. Protection and measurement devices, as well as special sensors, connect to the EcoStruxure platform. Through it, cable connections are thermally monitored, humidity and condensation cycles are measured, insulation is monitored, and sensor and relay data are collected.
Typical schemes cover rural substations with an incomer, a feeder and protection, and a sectionalised single busbar system. The prefabricated metal building improves personnel safety and installation quality and reduces project risks.
