Description
When VECTOR switchgear is installed in two rows, the sections are linked with this busbar trunking. Without it, linking the sections requires extra cubicles and cables laid under the floor. The busbar trunking replaces both options and saves space in the switchgear room. It is used both in new installations and in the modernization of switchgear at substations, power plants and industrial facilities.
The rated voltage of the busbar trunking is 12 or 24 kV, and the rated current is 2000 A. Short-circuit withstand is 40 kA for 3 s at 12 kV and 25 kA for 3 s at 24 kV, and internal arc withstand is 40 kA for 1 s. The short-circuit withstand values match the short-time withstand current limit of the VECTOR switchgear itself in the corresponding voltage class. For 24 kV the withstand is lower, so during design it is checked against the calculated short-circuit current of the network.
The busbar trunking consists of modules. They are produced in standard length or made to order for a specific room layout, and the length of one module is up to 800 mm. The run is assembled from the required number of modules, so it is fitted to the positions of the switchgear rows in the particular room. Individual modules are easier to deliver and carry into the switchgear room than a long continuous structure.
The busbar trunking was tested at the IPH laboratory to current IEC standards, and the design is intended for a high level of personnel safety. Tests in an independent laboratory confirm the declared short-circuit and arc withstand values. The product carries the SGS Fimko, CE and FI marks. The SGS Fimko mark is issued by a Finnish certification body, and CE means compliance with EU directive requirements. The busbar trunking is designed for the manufacturer's own switchgear range and is built at the same plant in Vaasa (Finland) as the VECTOR cubicles.
When ordering, specify the voltage class, the layout plan of the two switchgear rows and the length of the run, from which the number of standard and custom modules is determined. Module type and length are agreed at the project stage with the switchgear layout. For low-voltage systems the manufacturer offers a separate VEBA busbar trunking, and for medium voltage this busbar trunking complements the VECTOR switchgear range.
