Description

SIEBREAK and SIEBREAK-VCB are modular medium-voltage metal-enclosed switchgear assemblies for markets with ANSI standards. SIEBREAK consists of load-break switches, fuses and busbar assemblies fully integrated mechanically and electrically. SIEBREAK-VCB additionally contains a fixed-mounted vacuum circuit breaker. The switchgear is used as individual panels, on the high-voltage side of unit substation transformers and as line-ups, including main-tie-main schemes and schemes with automatic transfer. According to the instructions, they are suitable for protecting and isolating transformers in networks from 2.4 to 15 kV.

SIEBREAK is made for the 5 and 15 kV voltage classes with rated currents of 600 and 1200 A and impulse withstand voltages of 60 and 95 kV respectively. The short-time withstand current (2 s) is 25 or 38 kA, and the peak withstand current without fuses is 39 or 59 kA. The load-break switches are single, duplex and selector types, with a visible break through a viewing window of 203×457 mm, and a manual or motor operating mechanism. The panels are supplied with current-limiting or expulsion fuses, or without fuses.

Without fuses there is no short-circuit protection, and the load-break switch interrupts only the load current. The fuse monitoring system FMS signals a blown fuse and protects against single-phasing. The copper busbars are silver or tin plated, and mechanical door and switch interlocks, preparation for key interlocks and heaters are available. Enclosures are indoor types 1, 2 (drip-proof) and 12 (dust-tight), and outdoor type 3R.

In SIEBREAK-VCB the load-break switch gives a visible break, and the vacuum circuit breaker with relay protection interrupts overloads and short-circuit currents. The OMARS system (Operation and Maintenance Arc-flash Reduction System) protects both the primary and the secondary bus of the unit substation and clears faults in 60 ms. The incident arc energy is reduced to 2.1 cal/cm² in accordance with NFPA 70E, whereas with a traditional load-break switch with fuses it can reach 38.3 cal/cm² at a clearing time of 900 ms. SIEBREAK-VCB can act as a virtual main breaker of the LV switchboard. The vacuum interrupters keep their characteristics for up to 30,000 cycles.

The equipment complies with ANSI, IEEE, CSA, EEMAC and NEMA, and UL/c-UL certification is possible. Applications are transformer substations of industrial and commercial facilities, data centers and campuses.
