Description
NXAIR is a series of medium-voltage air-insulated switchgear (switchgear assemblies) with withdrawable vacuum circuit breakers for primary power distribution. According to the manufacturer, more than 610,000 NXAIR panels have been installed worldwide. Atmospheric air is used instead of SF6, so there are no greenhouse gases and disposal is simpler. The switchgear has been awarded the EcoTech ecolabel.
The switchgear is built and type tested at the factory to IEC 62271-200. Loss of service continuity category LSC 2B, partition class PM (metallic), internal arc classification IAC A FLR with an arc duration of 1 s. All operations are performed with the high-voltage doors closed, and the service intervals are more than 10 years.
The basic version is rated for voltages up to 12 and 17.5 kV. The breaking and short-time withstand currents are 40 kA (3 s), the peak withstand current is 100/104 kA, and the busbar current is up to 4000 A. Feeder currents are 630, 1000, 1250, 2000, 2500, 3150 and 4000 A, and 450 A for contactor panels. Panel widths are 435 (contactor), 600, 800 and 1000 mm, and the height is 2300 mm. The 50 kA version for the same voltages has a peak withstand current of 125/130 kA, feeder currents of 1250–4000 A, a width of 800/1000 mm and a height of 2500 mm. If generator vacuum circuit breakers tested to IEC/IEEE 62271-37-013 are installed, the peak withstand current is 137 kA, and the switchgear can be used in generator circuits of power plants.
The power-frequency withstand voltage is 28 kV (42 kV per GOST) for 12 kV and 38 kV for 17.5 kV, and the lightning impulse withstand voltage is 75 and 95 kV. The switchgear can be equipped with low-power instrument transformers LPIT to IEC 61869, built into bushing insulators, together with SIPROTEC 5 7SY82 terminals. According to the manufacturer's estimate, this saves up to 15 t of CO₂ equivalent per feeder over 40 years. Condition monitoring is done through SICAM A8000 and the MQTT protocol, with visualization in Electrification X.
Applications are utility substations, power plants, industry (mining, metallurgy, chemicals), shipbuilding, traction power supply, renewable energy, public buildings, airports and hospitals.
