HXGN / XGN / ZFNT / XGW gas-insulated switchgear and RMU monoblocks 12–72.5 kV
The HXGN, XGN, ZFNT and XGW series are medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear covering the 12–72.5 kV class. The high-voltage apparatus of each functional unit are placed in a sealed metal tank with SF6, an N2 + SF6 mixture or dry gas at a pressure slightly above atmospheric. The switchgear is installed in cable networks, at 35 kV substations, at renewable power stations and at industrial enterprises.

Description
The design combines high-voltage GIS technology and conventional cabinets. Dust, moisture and foreign objects cannot reach the live parts, so the equipment can be installed in confined spaces and severe conditions, and its dimensions and floor area are much smaller than those of air-insulated cabinets. By purpose they are equivalents of RMU and MV GIS for 10–35 kV.
The ring main unit monoblocks HXGN-12 for 12 kV are filled with SF6 or dry gas, and the HXGN-40.5 for 40.5 kV operates on SF6 at 50/60 Hz. Rated current 630/1250 A, breaking currents 20/25 kA. They are installed in ring and radial cable networks, package substations and at consumer incomers. Circuit breakers, disconnectors and busbars are fully enclosed and resistant to ageing and corrosion, the filling pressure is low, the insulation margin is large and the primary part needs no maintenance.
The XGN-40.5 is a fixed gas-insulated switchgear for 40.5 kV with rated currents of 1250, 2500 and 3150 A and breaking currents of 31.5/40 kA. The cabinets operate at 35 kV substations, renewable stations, industrial enterprises, and also at large thermal power plants and converter substations in 50 Hz networks. The insulation withstands 95 kV power frequency to earth and 118 kV across the gap, and lightning impulse of 185 and 215 kV. The indoor ZFNT-72.5 for 72.5 kV (1250/2500 A, 31.5 kA) with N2 + SF6 or SF6 insulation withstands a test voltage of 160 kV to earth. The cabinet is compact and is used in 66 kV networks, including wind farm internal networks.
The XGW-12 serves as an outdoor distribution point of an urban network with an integrated secondary system. A 12 kV switchgear, measuring transformers, a distribution automation terminal DTU and instruments are installed and commissioned in a stainless steel or glass-fibre concrete enclosure. The cable terminations are prefabricated, made of silicone rubber, fully enclosed and insulated, and can be touched. Rated current 630 A, breaking currents 20/25 kA, degree of protection IP44. Combining the primary and secondary parts shortens construction, and the shape and colour of the enclosure are chosen to suit the surrounding buildings.
