EGS, EES and EMTS are high-voltage GIS for the 72.5, 145 and 170 kV classes with SF6 or eco-friendly gas insulation. Rated current is up to 4000 A, withstand up to 50 kA. The equipment is installed at substations, power plants and in AC railway traction supply.

Description
High-voltage gas-insulated switchgear of this type operates at power plants, substations and railway power supply points, according to the Korean website of the company. The GIS switches load currents in normal operation and safely interrupts short-circuit currents during faults. Typical sites are 66–154 kV substations, power plant switchgear and AC railway traction power supply.
EGS-0722 is a two-phase 72.5 kV GIS for traction substations, sectioning posts and auxiliary posts. Rated current is 1250 or 2000 A, breaking and withstand current 20 kA for 1 s, test voltage 140 kV power frequency and 325 kV lightning impulse. Gas pressure is 0.50 MPa in the breaker compartment and 0.35 MPa in the other compartments. EMTS-145-40 is built with mixed MTS technology for 145 kV hybrid substations. The breaker, disconnector and earthing switch are assembled in one integrated enclosure rated 3150 A and 40 kA (3 s), with 275/650 kV insulation and 0.6 MPa pressure. Salt contamination, dust, high temperature and precipitation do not affect the apparatus.
EGS-1752/1754 is designed for 170 kV, with rated currents of 1250, 2000, 3150 and 4000 A, 50 kA withstand for 1 s, 325/750 kV insulation and 0.65/0.5 MPa pressure (breaker / other compartments); the frequency in the Korean catalogue is 60 Hz. The breaker uses combined (hybrid) arc extinction. EES-1752/1754 has the same rated data, but it is filled with an eco-friendly insulating gas with a global warming potential of no more than 500 at a pressure of 0.85/0.70 MPa. Disconnectors and earthing switches of the EES are operated electrically or manually.
The components are standardised and assembled from modules, so there are fewer parts and a lower probability of failures. The main elements sit in an earthed gas-filled enclosure, the insulation does not degrade from external influences during long service, and touching the enclosure is safe. The drive levers do not protrude outward. Disconnectors and earthing switches are three-position, and the drive with a Maltese (Geneva) mechanism fixes the position accurately. The breaker has a low-noise, oil-free motor-spring drive. The compact design simplifies installation, reduces construction cost and allows substations to be placed in a city, while the SF6 volume and the static and dynamic loads on the foundation are also reduced.
