CBGS-2 is gas-insulated 52 kV primary distribution switchgear with a single or double busbar system and busbar current up to 2000 A. The units are fitted with an SF2-G SF6 circuit breaker rated 25 kA and replace open-air switchgear where space is limited.

Description
CBGS-2 is designed for a rated voltage of 52 kV and for primary distribution with a single or double busbar system. The series has been approved by leading utility companies and by industrial and infrastructure customers, and more than 30,000 units of the CBGS range have been installed. The working gas overpressure is low, 0.4 bar, the architecture is uniform, the compartments are clearly separated, and for the single busbar system a gas exhaust duct is available to order. Compact units are installed in place of open-air switchgear in urban development and on cramped sites.
The enclosure is finished with RAL 7032 panels, and the circuit breaker front panel is RAL 1007. The unit consists of four or five independent earthed compartments. The busbars up to 2000 A and the three-position disconnector with earthing switch are in the upper tank of 3 mm stainless steel with moisture-absorbing filters. The central tank holds the circuit breaker, and cables and busbars reach it through bushing insulators. The low-voltage compartment with Sepam-type relays is in the lower part. The circuit breaker operating mechanism is accessible from outside the sealed tank, an intermediate unit, a seal or a disconnector is replaced without moving neighbouring units, and the double busbar system allows extension under voltage.
The SF2-G circuit breaker is of the self-compression type, rated 52 kV, 2000 A and 25 kA, with a fill overpressure of 4.8 bar, and a pressure drop is monitored by two alarm stages. It is operated by a GMH spring mechanism with an electric motor. For measurement, toroidal and flange-mounted current transformers, low-power LPCT, voltage transformers and LPVT voltage sensors per IEC 61869-11 are fitted. Cables are connected by straight Pfisterer connectors of size 3 at 52 kV with cross-section up to 500 mm², up to three power cables per phase and a fourth set for voltage transformers or surge arresters.
Operating conditions comply with IEC 62271-1 for indoor installation, from −5 to +40 °C, at altitudes up to 1000 m, and a seismic version is supplied to order. For traction substations single-phase and two-phase units are available. The series is also part of Power House modular substations in concrete or metal buildings, which arrive on site fully tested. Installation and commissioning are carried out by electricians certified for the CBGS-2 range. Applications cover solar and wind plants, industry, railways, data centres, utility substations and critical infrastructure.
