Description

CBGS-1 is designed for primary distribution at 24 and 36 kV and is made with a single or double busbar system. The series has been approved by large utility companies, industrial consumers and infrastructure operators, and more than 7000 units of the CBGS type have been installed. The switchboard consists of functional units connected by busbars in a separate gas tank.

The enclosure is finished with RAL 7032 panels. Inside there are four independent earthed metal compartments for a single busbar system or five for a double one, so a fault does not pass into the neighbouring compartment. The busbars for current up to 2500 A, the disconnector and the earthing switch are in the upper gas compartment of 3 mm stainless steel. The central compartment holds the circuit breaker; in the 24 kV version a load break switch with fuses for auxiliary transformers is possible there. The low-voltage compartment with Sepam-type relays is in the lower part of the unit, and so is the cable compartment, with rear access. The live parts are enclosed in sealed tanks, so humidity, dust and a polluted environment do not affect operation.

The self-compression circuit breaker extinguishes the arc in SF6 with a fill overpressure of 2.5 or 3.8 bar, and two alarm stages operate if the pressure drops. The spring operating mechanism is always motorised, charges the springs in less than 5 seconds, allows fast auto-reclosing cycles and is located outside the gas tank. The three-position disconnector complies with IEC 62271-102 and receives a motor drive to order. The 24 kV load break switch with fuses breaks currents up to 400 A, and the manufacturer recommends its own CF fuses. Current transformers are toroidal or flange-mounted, and voltage transformers are connected by cable or mounted on the gas tank.

Cables up to 630 A are connected by T-type screened connectors to type C bushings per EN 50181. For higher currents straight Pfisterer connectors of size 3 are used, with up to four power cables per phase. The switchboard is extended at both ends, an intermediate unit is removed without moving its neighbours, and the double busbar system allows extension under voltage. Internal arc resistance has been tested per IEC 62271-200 (IAC). The units are used in electrical networks, wind farms, airports, traction substations, industry and cogeneration plants.

Questions and answers

What busbar system does CBGS-1 have?

The series is made with a single or double busbar system for 1250, 1600, 2000 or 2500 A. The double system allows the switchboard to be extended under voltage.

How are cables connected to CBGS-1?

Up to 630 A through T-type screened connectors to type C bushings per EN 50181. Above 630 A straight Pfisterer connectors of size 3 are used, with up to four cables per phase.

What is the control circuit voltage of the circuit breaker?

The circuit breaker control circuits are rated 48, 110 or 125 V DC.
