Description
The cubicle SF6 gas insulated switchgear C-GIS (Cubicle Type SF6 Gas Insulated Switchgear) is produced by the Korean manufacturer in two arrangements. D-GIS with two busbar systems is equipped with a main panel, an auxiliary transformer panel, feeder panels, a bus tie panel and a sectionalizing panel. S-GIS with one busbar system is assembled from the automatic load transfer panel ALTS, a main panel, a MOF metering panel, a VT panel and feeder panels. Typical installation sites are 22.9 kV distribution substations, power plant switchyards, critical consumers with automatic transfer and sites with limited area.
The design is fully metal-enclosed. All live parts are assembled in the cubicle tank filled with SF6 at a gauge pressure of 0.03 MPa at 20 °C. The gas level is monitored, and a relief device is provided for an emergency pressure rise. The circuit breaker has a drive on a permanent magnet actuator that works without maintenance. The disconnector and the earthing switch have a spring toggle mechanism, with mechanical interlocks between the three devices and double protection of personnel during maintenance. The declared service life is 10,000 operations. The sealed tank isolates the live parts from the dust and humidity of the room, so the condition of the insulation does not depend on them.
The ALTS function transfers the load to the backup source 1 cycle after voltage is lost at the main incomer, so the supply interruption is minimal. Both voltage loss and restoration are monitored. Rated current of the main busbars and incomers is 2000 A, of the branches 600 A, frequency 50/60 Hz. The one-minute test voltage is 70 kV, across the open disconnector 77 kV, lightning impulse 165 kV. Short-time withstand current is 25 kA for D-GIS and 16 kA for S-GIS for 1 s, making capacity 65 and 41.6 kA respectively.
Control is manual and automatic, auxiliary supply 220 V AC or 125 or 24 V DC. Operating temperatures are from −30 to +40 °C. The switchgear is normally equipped with the microprocessor controller ETR500 with measurement, monitoring, event recording and communication, and protection relays of other makers can be installed at the customer's request. The 25.8 kV voltage class is taken from the manufacturer's Korean catalog. Type tests were carried out in the accredited laboratory KERI to IEC 62271-101, 102, 200 and 201.
