Description
8DJH is a family of gas-insulated switchgear for secondary power distribution. It includes ring main units (RMU) and extensible panels with load-break switches, fuses and vacuum circuit breakers. These are factory-built three-phase GIS with a single busbar system for indoor installation, made as individual panels and blocks.
The high-voltage parts are placed in a hermetically sealed welded stainless steel tank with welded-in bushings, filled with SF6 gas. The tank is sealed for the entire service life, so the switchgear does not depend on salt fog, humidity, dust, condensation or small animals. Panels are extended and joined on site without gas work. According to the manufacturer, more than 1.5 million panels of this switchgear are in operation worldwide.
8DJH (catalog HA 40.2) is rated for voltages of 7.2–24 kV at 50/60 Hz, a withstand voltage of 20–50 kV and a lightning impulse of 60–125 kV. The rated busbar current is 630 A and feeder currents are 200, 250, 400 and 630 A depending on the function. The short-time withstand current is 20/21 kA for 3 s, and up to 17.5 kV 25 kA for 1 s. The peak withstand current is 63/65 kA, and 50/55 kA for 24 kV. Panel widths are 310, 430 and 500 mm and the depth is 775/890 mm. Internal arc resistance is up to 21 kA.
8DJH 36 (catalog HA 40.3) is rated for 36 kV, a withstand voltage of 70 kV, an impulse of 170 kV, a short-time withstand current of 25 kA (3 s) and a peak withstand current of 63/65 kA. The busbar current is 630 A and feeders are 200/630 A. Panel widths are 430–590 mm, and the air-insulated metering panel is 1100 mm wide. Versions to ANSI and seismic versions to IEEE 693-2018 are available.
The degree of protection of the high-voltage parts is IP65 and of the enclosures at least IP2X. Outgoing lines are earthed with making-capacity earthing switches, and there are capacitive voltage indicators and logical mechanical interlocks. The switchgear is maintenance free (IEC 62271-1), and the expected service life is at least 35 years. Applications are transformer substations of distribution networks, customer substations, building power supply, water utilities, metro and railway stations, airports, EV charging stations, wind, solar and hydro power plants and biogas plants, and data centers.
