XperLUBE — digital accumulator (common rail) cylinder and packing lubrication system for reciprocating compressors

XperLUBE is a digital cylinder and packing lubrication system for reciprocating compressors based on the common rail principle. The gas pressure in the cylinder can reach 375 bar, and the ambient temperature is from −25 to +60 °C. It is used at compressor stations, underground gas storage facilities, gas fields, gas processing plants and refineries.

Principle
oil pressure generated separately from dosing (common rail); electronically controlled injectors for each lubrication point
Cylinder gas pressure
up to 375 bar
Ambient temperature
−25…+60 °C (injectors up to 95 °C)
Speed
no limitation

Description

Cylinder lubrication is a sensitive subject in the operation of reciprocating compressors. Incorrect oil dosing does harm both when it is too little and when it is too much, and unplanned shutdowns, lost production and downstream consequences follow. The digital XperLUBE system supplies exactly as much oil as is needed under any conditions.

The principle is simple. Oil pressure generation is separated from dosing, as in a common rail. A shared pressurized accumulator feeds electronically controlled injectors, one for each cylinder and packing lubrication point. Whether temperature, pressure and speed change or lubrication fittings fail, XperLUBE responds faster and more accurately than manual adjustment. It automatically supplies the amount of oil required for the specific conditions and changes the flow when the process changes. In real time the system monitors, regulates and corrects the flow at each point. This eliminates unplanned shutdowns caused by compressor damage from too little or too much oil.

Technical data. The ambient temperature is −25…+60 °C, and up to 95 °C for the injectors. The maximum gas pressure in the cylinder is 375 bar. There are no speed limitations. ATEX and IECEx explosion protection certificates are available, and the system complies with API 618.

The system is supplied as plug-and-play for cylinder and packing lubrication. It is easy to install and integrate, and faulty injectors are found by simple diagnostics. Maintenance is simple and inexpensive: the parts are standardized for all compressors and applications, components are replaced quickly and individually, and injector inspection intervals are aligned with the compressor maintenance intervals. Precise dosing reduces both oil consumption and its carryover into the gas. This is important for gas fed into the gas transmission system and for gas treatment plants.

XperLUBE is installed on new compressors and when upgrading existing machines.
