Description
Centrifugal cryogenic pumps are used to transfer LNG when offloading semi-trailers and ISO containers, loading road tankers, at filling stations and when bunkering ships. Besides LNG and ethylene, they handle liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, so one range of machines covers most liquefied gas logistics tasks. The pumps have cool-down monitoring, soft start, dry-run protection and leak detection; ATEX-certified pumps are supplied for hazardous areas.
The range includes three design groups. External pumps with a shaft seal have an oversized spiral inducer for minimum NPSH, a closed high-efficiency impeller and a thick insulating plate; capacity is up to 130 m³/h, head up to 460 m, power up to 90 kW, with an electric or hydraulic drive. Submerged encapsulated seal-less pumps deliver up to 90 m³/h, up to 220 m and up to 30 kW. Submerged pumps in a sump or in a tank deliver up to 520 m³/h, up to 500 m and up to 200 kW.
For mobile and stationary offloading and loading, the GBS (fixed speed with a gearbox), the GBSD and CO 120 (direct drive with variable speed through a 60–150 Hz converter) and the VS with a submerged motor are intended. Electric-driven pumps for road tankers are light and compact. The Plug'in system is powered from the site mains, and the Mixtran system from a generator on the trailer driven by the tractor's power take-off. The frequency converter and control cabinet have IP66 protection and vibration resistance up to 3g, and record up to 40 fault codes.
The new MAGSTAR 260/5-H is a hydraulically driven centrifugal pump with a synchronous magnetic coupling for offloading semi-trailers with LNG, nitrogen and argon. Torque is transmitted without contact and without slip, there is no mechanical seal and no wearing parts, and the service interval reaches 5000 hours. Parameters: flow up to 1000 l/min, head up to 400 m, design pressure 40 bar g, speed up to 5500 rpm, power up to 48 kW, impeller diameter 260 mm.
The pumps are used at LNG satellite stations, at road tanker loading terminals, at filling stations and in bunkering, and at industrial LNG consumers in bulk/microbulk mode. Each machine undergoes factory mechanical and cryogenic tests. Supervision of installation and commissioning, a 24-hour support line, service contracts, repair and personnel training are available from the manufacturer.

Questions and answers
What capacity do the submerged pumps have?
Encapsulated seal-less pumps deliver up to 90 m³/h at a head of up to 220 m and power of up to 30 kW. Pumps in a sump or in a tank reach 520 m³/h, 500 m and 200 kW.
How do the GBS and GBSD differ?
The GBS runs at a fixed speed through a gearbox. The GBSD and CO 120 have a direct drive with variable speed through a 60–150 Hz converter.
What is the MAGSTAR 260/5-H intended for?
For offloading semi-trailers with LNG, nitrogen and argon. The magnetic coupling transmits torque without contact, there is no mechanical seal, and the service interval reaches 5000 hours.
