Description
CM series compressors are single-stage centrifugal cryogenic machines with an electric drive and an adjustable inlet guide vane, intended for handling boil-off gas (BOG) on LNG carriers and onshore terminals. The unit is supplied on a single rigid frame together with an oil system, a seal gas system and accessories. The partition and the partition seal are attached to a reinforced gearbox.
The capacity of the CM 200, CM 300 and CM 400 models is from 3 500 to 40 000 m³/h of boil-off gas at an inlet temperature down to −140 °C. Inlet pressure is 1.03 bar abs., outlet pressure 2.03 bar abs. On a tanker, the compressor in High Duty mode sends boil-off gas ashore during loading and initial cool-down and recirculates it to warm up the cargo tanks. In Low Duty mode it maintains tank pressure and supplies gas to the power plant as fuel. For two-stroke medium-pressure dual-fuel engines, multistage fuel compressors CM2, CM4-200 and CM6-200 are produced. Reducing the required fuel pressure from 17 to about 13 bar made it possible to use the new-generation CM4-200 with fixed speed and simple control.
The layout is compact, the footprint is small and the frame is rigid. High efficiency allows a smaller motor to be installed, the oil partition seal works without seal gas consumption, and the cabling and piping are completed at the factory. The compressor is integrated with the ship's integrated automation system (IAS) via a serial link or with full redundancy. It is supplied in a single package with gas heaters and vaporizers.
For onshore facilities, LNG receiving terminals and gas-fired power plants, the same machines are supplied as cryogenic blowers and compressors without a partition, to API 617 with a separate oil system if required. Return gas blowers equalize gas volumes during tanker unloading, and integrally geared compressors with one to six stages supply fuel gas.
Marine equipment is built under the supervision of classification societies (ABS, BV, DNV, Lloyd's, NK, CCS, KR). The cumulative operating time of Low Duty compressors exceeds 4000 years. Each machine undergoes factory mechanical and cryogenic tests. Supervision of installation and commissioning, a 24-hour support line, service contracts, repair and personnel training are available from the manufacturer.

Questions and answers
What capacity do the CM 200, CM 300 and CM 400 compressors have?
From 3 500 to 40 000 m³/h of boil-off gas at an inlet temperature down to −140 °C. Inlet pressure is 1.03 bar abs., outlet pressure 2.03 bar abs.
How do the High Duty and Low Duty modes differ on a tanker?
In High Duty mode the compressor sends boil-off gas ashore during loading and initial cool-down and recirculates it to warm up the cargo tanks. In Low Duty mode it maintains tank pressure and supplies gas to the power plant as fuel.
Which compressors are used for two-stroke dual-fuel engines?
Multistage fuel compressors CM2, CM4-200 and CM6-200. Reducing the required fuel pressure from 17 to about 13 bar made it possible to use the CM4-200 with fixed speed and simple control.
