Description
The HS series covers high-speed reciprocating compressors driven by a gas engine for gas production (upstream) and transport (midstream). The speed, depending on the selected gas engine, is from 750 to 1800 rpm. The compressors are fully integrated into the in-house software for designing compressor plants, so the configuration is quickly selected for the specific conditions of the field or pipeline. Typical units are horizontal high-speed machines with a gas engine or electric drive. Gas injection is the most common method of enhanced oil recovery, and after natural gas CO2 is injected most often.
In the fields the units serve natural gas production, its lift to the surface and delivery to treatment plants. There solid particles, hydrogen sulphide, CO2 and heavy hydrocarbons are removed; the manufacturer has many years of experience in compressing sour gas with H2S. For enhanced oil recovery (EOR) by gas injection a combined unit has been created with a low-pressure screw compressor and a high-pressure reciprocating compressor on a common drive from a two-shaft gas engine. It takes up less space and consumes less energy. There is experience in compressing CO2, including for supercritical pressures.
In gas transmission systems compressors overcome pressure losses and move gas over thousands of kilometres. The pressure difference and the required volumes often change, so the machines are equipped with well-designed capacity control systems. This is economical and energy-efficient.
A separate area is underground gas storage. For injection into salt caverns and porous storage facilities, horizontal reciprocating compressors with a capacity of up to 200 000 Nm³/h are installed at the sites. Suction pressure can be 20–60 bar, discharge 80–230 bar depending on the pressure in the pipeline and the filling level of the storage. Units with a power of up to 10 MW have energy-efficient smooth capacity control. The same approaches are applied to hydrogen storage in salt caverns, up to 200 bar and over 200 000 Nm³/h at a suction pressure from 40 bar.
The units are supplied complete with engine, coolers, pulsation dampers, lubrication and control systems. Maintenance, overhaul and modernisation are carried out by the service division of the manufacturer.
