Description
Ring valves are intended for reciprocating compressors handling process gases, hydrogen and high-pressure gases. The closing element is a set of concentric profiled rings made of reinforced polymer, working against a conical seat.
The CE has been the most popular ring valve in the manufacturer's range for many years, proven in thousands of applications. Its high efficiency makes it suitable for hydrogen and for heavy gases such as CO2, carbon monoxide and ethylene, and also for the chemical and processing industries, oil refining and power generation. Long service life is provided by profiled rings with a conical seat, impact-resistant rings made of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK, an anti-stiction design, spring protectors and fully guided rings that also allow vertical installation. The effective flow area is 20–40 % larger than in conventional plate or poppet valves, and the aerodynamic flow path reduces deposits and increases tolerance to liquids. Speed up to 1200 rpm, On/Off, HydroCOM or eHydroCOM control, operation with and without lubrication. Pressure up to 200 bar, differential pressure up to 100 bar, temperature from −40 to +230 °C, diameters from 48 mm (one ring) to 314 mm (eight rings).
The HPV is a profiled high-pressure ring valve for severe duty: high-pressure hydrogen, noble gases, biogas, CNG and hydrocarbons, and the chemical, pharmaceutical and electronics industries and renewable energy. It is used in reciprocating and diaphragm compressors and works particularly well at high compression ratios, high discharge temperatures and without lubrication. The ring is made of high-strength, high-temperature PEEK with carbon filler and withstands temperatures up to 300 °C and impact loads. The spring plate is made of high-purity steel with an ultra-fine finish and is designed for high dynamic loads, and the materials are resistant to hydrogen embrittlement. The small clearance volume allows high compression ratios and an economical compressor design. The effective area is 30–40 % larger than in conventional high-pressure valves, and more than 50 installations are in operation worldwide. Speed up to 1800 rpm, pressure up to 800 bar, differential pressure up to 400 bar, temperature from −20 to +300 °C, diameters 19–57 mm.
In the gas industry these valves are installed in hydrogen and CNG compressors, biogas and biomethane compressors, and process gas compressors at gas processing and petrochemical plants.
