2TVL63 mobile gas transfer compressor on a trailer for gas pipeline repair without venting, up to 100,000 Nm³/h, 60 bar

The 2TVL63 mobile compressor on a trailer transfers natural gas out of the pipeline section under repair without venting it to atmosphere. Capacity is up to 100,000 Nm³/h, final pressure up to 60 bar(g), drive by a gas engine of up to 1000 kW. Deployment takes about 2 hours with a crew of 4.

Description

The mobile gas transfer compressor is intended for work on gas networks where a pipeline section has to be emptied of gas. Instead of controlled venting of natural gas to atmosphere, the unit pumps it into a neighbouring line or another pipeline. This reduces gas losses, methane emissions, working time and downtime losses, so the main design criterion was maximum capacity on a minimum footprint.

The whole unit is installed on a single trailer, and no separate modules have to be assembled on site. The drive is a gas engine of up to 1000 kW. The trailer carries water cooling, climate control, the control and regulation system and the installation accessories. The core of the unit is the 2TVL63 gas-tight reciprocating compressor with an especially short running gear, which makes full use of the trailer envelope. It transfers up to 100,000 Nm³/h of natural gas into another pipeline at a final pressure of up to 60 bar(g). The minimum suction pressure is 1 bar(g), so the section can be emptied almost completely.

For rapid call-outs without waiting for permits, the unit is built to the standard external dimensions allowed by German road traffic regulations (StVZO), 13.00 × 2.55 × 2.70 m at a total weight of about 40 t. The weight is distributed so that a permanent transport permit applies, not tied to a route. Auxiliary systems and a full control cabinet allow almost autonomous operation, and the engine runs on natural gas that is available on site in the trunk pipeline. From delivery to start of operation, including connection of the connecting lines, takes about 2 hours with a crew of 4. The unit is ready for year-round operation. The total drive power is up to 1100 kW.

The same range of mobile machines includes the MoBIO 800 with two dry gas-tight V-type compressors for feeding biomethane into the grid at pressures of up to 84 bar(g). For the Ukrainian gas transmission system, the unit is especially relevant during repairs and tie-ins on trunk pipelines and branches, where venting gas means a direct loss of resource and environmental harm.

Questions and answers

What capacity does the 2TVL63 mobile compressor have?

Up to 100,000 Nm³/h of natural gas at a final pressure of up to 60 bar(g). The minimum suction pressure is 1 bar(g), so the section can be emptied almost completely.

What are the dimensions and weight of the unit?

13.00 × 2.55 × 2.70 m, weight about 40 t. The dimensions are allowed by German road traffic regulations (StVZO), and a permanent transport permit applies, not tied to a route.

How long does deployment take?

About 2 hours including connection of the connecting lines, with a crew of 4. The engine runs on natural gas from the trunk pipeline, so the unit is almost autonomous.
