Description
500 kV cable systems of the manufacturer operate at the Fengning pumped storage plant, the largest in the world by installed capacity, and at the Wendeng pumped storage plant with a cable route elevation difference of 270 m. They are also installed at the Jing'an substation in Shanghai and in the Chutin project in Guangzhou. By class this is an analogue of ПвП/АПвПу2г 64/110–290/500 kV cables. The cable is connected directly to the transformer and laid in tunnels, on inclined sections, bridges and in shafts.
Cables of 66–500 kV are made with conductor cross-sections of 240–3500 mm², and for 500 kV from 800 to 2500 mm². The permissible continuous conductor temperature is 90 °C, and the design service life is at least 30 years. Reduced flame propagation, water-blocking, rodent and termite protected, and low-smoke low-toxicity versions are available on request. The corrugated aluminium sheath (ZA-YJLW02, ZC-YJLW03, YJLLW03-Z) is light and strong, withstands large tensile and compressive forces, usually needs no armour and suits any laying conditions. It is less flexible and less corrosion resistant than lead. The smooth aluminium sheath (ZC-YJL03, YJLL03-Z) reduces the diameter by 15% and increases current-carrying capacity. The lead sheath (YJQ03, YJSQ03-Z) has high corrosion resistance. The composite aluminium or copper-plastic sheath with a copper wire screen (YJSAY, YJSAV) is light and flexible, but is not designed for large tensile forces.
DC cables with XLPE insulation up to 535 kV with cross-sections of 240–3500 mm² and conductor temperatures of 70 and 90 °C operate on VSC transmissions, and their insulation is designed for continuous DC voltage. The 110 kV cable with polypropylene insulation allows 90 and 100 °C, and 105–110 °C for short periods, has a high current-carrying capacity and is fully recyclable.
The manufacturer makes the accessories itself. Outdoor terminations of 66–500 kV have porcelain or composite insulators and cones of silicone rubber or EPDM, including for submarine cables. Terminations for connection to GIS of 66–500 kV are made with epoxy insulators and EPDM cones with spring compression, and without oil at 500 kV. Both integral and modular prefabricated joints are available, which have passed assessment by the China Electricity Council. DC joints and connections of ±210…±535 kV use modified EPDM in which no space charge accumulates.
