MV/HV cable terminations: heat-shrink IXSU, EPKT, HVT-Z and high-voltage OHVT-C up to 245 kV
Terminations for medium- and high-voltage power cables with plastic insulation. The heat-shrink series IXSU and EPKT are made to IEC, HVT-Z to IEEE, and the high-voltage OHVT-C are rated for voltages up to 245 kV. The terminations finish the cable at connections to overhead lines, transformers and switchgear.

Description
The manufacturer has developed heat-shrink technology for the power industry for over 60 years and is one of its pioneers. Since 1980, according to its data, 358 million km of heat-shrink products have been produced. A cable termination grades the electric field where the cable screen has been removed and seals the prepared end against moisture. The terminations are installed on plastic-insulated MV and HV cables at connections to overhead lines, power transformers, switchgear and other apparatus.
The range is divided by standards. To IEC, the heat-shrink terminations IXSU and the termination systems EPKT are produced, and to IEEE the HVT-Z terminations. For the interface with paper-insulated cables, the same programme includes transition joints. Heat-shrink accessories cover voltages from 1 to 123 kV. For high voltage there are OHVT-C terminations up to 245 kV, and the cold-shrink programme includes CST terminations, which are installed without heating.
Heat-shrink products are made from specially compounded thermoplastic polymers, and the formulation is chosen for the particular application. The shape memory is retained for decades, even after long warehouse storage. The materials are resistant to pollution, ultraviolet, salt fog and other harsh influences, so the terminations work both in outdoor substations and near the sea. Tubes, tapes, sleeves, joints and terminations are manufactured under process control.
According to the manufacturer, the products operate for over 40 years without maintenance. The manufacturer publishes installation video instructions on its website. The terminations are used in MV distribution networks, at cable outlets of substations and in HV networks up to 245 kV.
