Description
The company is able to develop and produce generators of all main types for wind turbines. These are permanent magnet synchronous direct-drive (gearless) and semi-direct-drive (with a medium-speed gearbox), high-speed permanent magnet, doubly fed induction (DFIG), squirrel-cage induction, and also electrically excited synchronous generators for direct drive. A doubly fed generator with a new radial ventilation system has also been mastered. The type is chosen taking into account the location, onshore or offshore, and the required turbine rating. Direct drive without a gearbox removes a wearing component from the drive train, and semi-direct drive combines a medium-speed gearbox with a more compact generator.
Onshore generators range from 1.5 to 13 MW, offshore ones from 5 to 26 MW. Platforms have been created for onshore generators of 6–13 MW and offshore generators of 8–26 MW. The first in-house designed 2.5 MW direct-drive generator was produced in 2011. For offshore wind turbines the first Chinese 10 MW direct-drive permanent magnet generator was created in 2019 and put into operation at the Xinghuawan II wind farm. It was followed by a 13 MW class offshore generator (2021) and 6 and 8 MW semi-direct-drive generators (2022).
Next, a 12.5 MW onshore generator and 17, 18 and 26 MW offshore generators were developed, the largest at the time of release. The rating classes grew step by step, from 2.5 MW in 2011 to 26 MW. Wind turbines with these generators twice made it onto the list of the ten main products of Chinese state corporations.
Production capacity exceeds 3000 wind generators a year. The generators and the wind turbines with them are exported to Sweden (30 turbines of 2.5 MW for the Blekliden wind farm), Ulyanovsk (14 direct-drive turbines of 2.5 MW, 2017), Finland, Cuba, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Ecuador. For offshore wind generators a 25 MW test bench for 7 rpm has been built. It is intended for testing high-power offshore machines. Manufacturing takes place in Deyang (Sichuan, China).
