Description

Turbogenerators are made by the subsidiary of the group, the first base in China for the development and production of electric generators. According to the website of the company, a full range from 3 to 1300 MW is produced in three series by cooling method.

The new series has air cooling, the second is fully hydrogen-cooled, and the third is water-hydrogen cooled, where water circulates in the stator winding and hydrogen in the rotor and core. In the air-cooled series, 200 and 350 MW generators have been mastered, along with a 400 MW generator with fully air cooling, the largest in China by unit output. For ultra-supercritical coal units, a 1000 MW generator with water-hydrogen cooling is produced; the company is the only one in China that transports the stator of a 1000 MW class generator by rail in one piece.

According to the manufacturer, the generators are adapted to operation at high altitude, over a wide load range and in flexible regulation mode, and have high efficiency and an insulation system. Excitation is provided by the manufacturer's own systems for generators of 25–1200 MW.

The thermal equipment of the group is installed at 628 power plants with a combined capacity of 439 GW; the main equipment of its coal-fired plants accounts for about one third of the installed thermal capacity in China and has been supplied to 500 plants in the country and to more than 30 countries. The group supplies complete equipment for 1000 MW ultra-supercritical units: boilers, turbines, generators and valves. Through the foreign trade company of the group, EPC projects for thermal plants abroad are carried out, for example the Jamshoro 2×660 MW plant in Pakistan, as well as emergency repair of generators (Cam Pha plant, Vietnam).

A separate fully air-cooled series is intended for new energy and multi-purpose use, including solar thermal plants (a 50 MW generator for a molten salt tower solar plant in Qinghai), compressed air energy storage and heat recovery.

Questions and answers

What output range do the turbogenerators cover?

From 3 to 1300 MW in three series by cooling method. A separate 1000 MW generator is intended for ultra-supercritical coal units.

What is the largest fully air-cooled generator?

A 400 MW generator, the largest in China by unit output. Machines of 200 and 350 MW have also been mastered in this series.

How is the stator of the 1000 MW generator transported?

By rail, in one piece. The company is the only one in China that transports the stator of a generator of this class in one piece.
