Description
Four-pole air-cooled synchronous generators of the TM21-TG series are intended for drive by gas and steam turbines through a gearbox, and by other prime movers with a speed of 1500/1800 rpm. Like the two-pole machines of the series, they are designed individually to the requirements of each customer and the project standards. They are used at CHP plants and power plants of industrial enterprises, in oil refining, petrochemicals, the pulp and paper industry, and in gas turbine units with a gearbox.
According to the manufacturer's specification, the generators are produced with a rating of approximately 5000 to 70,000 kVA at 6.6–13.8 kV (3–6 kV on request), at 50 or 60 Hz. The rotor is salient-pole, with massive (solid) poles, which increases resistance to overloads and impulse effects. Insulation is class F with a class F temperature rise, made using vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI). The cooling type (TEWAC, TEAAC, TEPV), enclosure rating, excitation system, power factor, direction of rotation and shaft end geometry are specified by the customer. The machines comply with the main international standards NEMA, IEEE, IEC and API and have high efficiency, short-circuit ratio and reactance figures.
The new compact design was developed on the basis of electromagnetic field and heat transfer calculations; the spring support system and the optimized rotor reduce vibration and noise. The brushless AC exciter eliminates brush maintenance, and the rectifier in each of six arms contains three parallel diodes and two more in series. Sleeve bearings have a floating labyrinth seal against oil leakage. If required, the dimensions and connection dimensions are chosen to replace an existing machine.
The bracket-type generator is transported and installed without disassembly, which shortens installation time. Each machine undergoes full factory assembly and testing. An example of supply is a four-pole 37 MVA, 11 kV, 60 Hz generator in explosion-proof Ex p design for an oil refinery. The generator set package under the typical scheme includes current and voltage transformers, surge arresters, a measurement system, an excitation regulator (AVR) panel and a neutral grounding device. The manufacturer supports the project from requirements definition to commissioning.
