Description
Two-pole synchronous generators of the TM21-TG series are air-cooled turbogenerators for drive by steam and gas turbines at industrial and utility power plants. Each generator is designed, built and tested to the requirements of a specific customer, and non-standard requirements, including connection dimensions for an existing foundation, are taken into account at the design stage. The manufacturer also offers individually designed two-pole generators of up to 100 MW, including with connection dimensions for replacing existing machines.
According to the manufacturer's specification, two-pole generators are produced with a rating of approximately 5000 to 100,000 kVA at 11, 13.8 or 15 kV, at 50 or 60 Hz (3000 or 3600 rpm), with a power factor of 0.8–0.9. The rotor is cylindrical and the shaft is forged from special alloy steel for high speeds. The standard version is enclosed with an air-to-water cooler (TEWAC, IC8A1W7) and an IP54 enclosure rating. Air-to-air cooling (TEAAC) or pipe ventilation (TEPV) is available on request.
Class F insulation with a class B temperature rise is made using vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI). The excitation is brushless, with a permanent magnet pilot exciter, and the rotating rectifier is built with three parallel and two series diodes in each of six arms. The generators comply with IEC 60034 and, on request, with NEMA, IEEE and API standards.
The design is calculated for high rotational speeds, so the shaft is forged from alloy steel. Each rotor undergoes multi-plane high-speed balancing. The proprietary spring mounting system reduces vibration and noise, and the sleeve bearings have floating labyrinth seals against oil leaks. The generators are delivered fully assembled and tested (bracket-type design), which shortens installation and commissioning time.
Examples of supplies are a two-pole 88 MVA, 13.8 kV, 60 Hz generator for a pulp and paper mill and a 40 MVA water-cooled generator with matching dimensions for replacing an installed machine. The machines are used at steam turbine and gas turbine thermal power plants and CHP plants of industrial enterprises, in cogeneration and in modernization in place of old turbogenerators.
